Presenting the work of contemporary artists and fine craft artisans working in fiber art and turned wood, HANDCRAFTED: FIBER ART + TURNED WOOD is a regional juried exhibition presented on a biennial basis. The Call for Entries is open to residents of MD, DC, VA, DE, PA, and WV. Entry Deadline: Sunday, January 19, 2020.
CALL TO ARTISTS: Artists and fine craft artisans working in fiber art and turned wood are invited to submit images of up to four works created within the past three years for consideration by our esteemed jurors. Entry Fee: $25.00 (maximum of 4 works per entry).
FIBER ARTISTS: Fiber Art entries will be juried this year by Caroline Kipp, Curator of Contemporary Art at the George Washington University Museum and the Textile Museum in Washington, DC. The HANDCRAFTED exhibition is dedicated to highlighting the work or regional artists using traditional and/or non-traditional materials and textile techniques which include weaving, quilting, embroidery, beading, felting, crochet, knitting, lacework, hooking, sewing, spinning, tapestry, surface design, and mixed media along with current innovations in this evolving medium.

WOODTURNERS: Turned Wood entries will be juried this year by Dr. Barbara Wolanin, Curator and Collector, who served f0r 30 years as Curator for the Architect of the Capitol in Washington, DC. The HANDCRAFTED exhibition is dedicated to enhancing awareness of turned wood, and providing a venue for woodturners from the region to share functional, sculptural, and creative pieces created using the lathe, hand-held tools, and a steady hand to carve original turnings, using a variety of species of wood, that demonstrate a wide range of forms which can be achieved on a rotating axis.
