SEASONAL CLASSES

Winter 2024 Classes begin the week of January 15th, 2024  

If the class you're interested in has already started, please reach out to Education Department before signing up. Some classes close after the 2nd week of class sessions.

Please note that classes run based on enrollment, and classes with low enrollment will not be able to run. If a class is cancelled you will be issued a refund. You can read more about this on our Policies page.

Young Artists Ballet Level 1

This class is for beginning ballet students. Exercises will be executed at the barre and in the center concentrating on posture, body alignment or stance, and placement of the feet and arms. Basic ballet steps and allegro will be achieved in the center while continuing to focus on musicality, sense of movement, and terminology.

Performing Theatre as an Actor!

This is a fun and collaborative class where students get to further their acting and performance skills. Students will strengthen their ability to develop characters, build stage presence and confidence, and perform using stories from around the world as inspiration. Acting techniques, script analysis and staging are just some of the theater skills taught in this engaging class. Students might be required to memorize lines and stage directions for a sharing on the final class which is open for family and friends.

Young Artist Ballet Level 3

Attire: light blue leotard for students new to Level 2/3 and lavender leotard for returning level 2/3 students (no skirts), pink tights, pink ballet shoes. Hair in a bun or ponytail (short hair pulled away from the face with a headband or barrettes)

This class is for students who have previously taken at least one year of ballet. Barre work will continue to strengthen body placement/alignment, increase technique, and introduce demi pointe work. Center practice exercises concentrate on correct placement and balance without use of the barre. Simple petite allegro and traveling enchainment will be executed.

Ballet for Fitness

This class is designed to keep your body in shape as we grow older. It will feature exercises at the barre which assist in body alignment and posture and overall use of all body muscles to keep you supple and strong. Stretching is also incorporated. No previous ballet classes are required.

Finger Knitting for Mindfulness

Learn mindfulness through handwork; finger knitted chains, bracelets, and critters delight and can eventually turned to crochet, sewing, and knitting. The creation of knits is integral to learning, stress reduction, and focus, and students can calm their minds and bodies with the mastery of this simple art.

Vessel Hip-Hop Dance Worskhop for Teens

With this project, Vessel, Inc. plans to use its expertise in hip hop and commercial dance to train teens ages 14-17 (middle and high school students) who are interested in dance and would benefit by being in a positive environment. The 10-week session will provide a 1 hour long class that incorporates meditation, yoga stretches, learning basic dance moves, and learning a choreographed dance.

Painting Club: Let's Create!

Join a group of fellow art lovers! In this class, students explore techniques of painting, learn about six artists, cultivate an atmosphere of creativity and collaboration with fellow classmates and teaching artist, and complete at least seven original works.Students explore painting techniques of a new artist each week while practicing the basics of sketching, watercolor, and acrylic painting.Students complete the course with paintings of their own creation in the styles of the six surveyed artists. They will also take home, each week, a small painting of the style they learned that day but the course culminates in one final painting in the style, or styles, of their choosing.
