Adult Acting Technique (Level Two)
Some acting experience and a pre-audition is required. Students must present a 1.5 to 2 minute Monologue to register for this class. Please send videos to kchauncey with subject [Name] Acting Class submission. An open discussion and continuation of techniques and concepts learned in previous acting classes or experiences students will work to figure out what works or has worked for them and what has not.

Acting for Kids: Telling the Story!
very show starts with a story!
This class takes a deeper look at the skills necessary to create dynamic characters and relationships on stage to tell an authentic story. Truthful and three-dimensional characters have specific physical and vocal qualities, a detailed back-story, and an in-depth personality. In this course, students work on creating unique and relatable characters, while maintaining believable relationships with other characters on stage. Students work in the realm of acting exercises and improvisations to build these layered characters within different stories.

Group Piano 2A
Each class will focus on developing basic piano skills with emphasis on musical notation included learning simple rhythmic concepts and reading and identifying notes.
We highly recommend that students have access to a piano or keyboard to practice at home between classes. All students must bring their own personal headset and 1/4 inch adapter to their piano classes.

Broadway Beats Dance
Have you always wanted to dance in a Broadway Musical? Well, now is your chance to experience that! This course teaches jazz, tap, and lyrical techniques that will allow students to dance to popular Broadway songs. You will visit many of your favorite shows. This class is for everyone! No matter your skill level, you will have fun.
Please wear comfortable clothing (ex. t-shirt and leggings or sweatpants) and sneakers or jazz shoes.

Adult Artist Ballet
This class focuses on exercises, techniques, and steps of classical ballet with an emphasis on terminology and correct body alignment. Students will develop an aesthetic awareness of the art of classical ballet. The class includes a warm-up at the barre with center floor work and combinations. This class is adaptable for those who are beginners as well as advanced ballet dancers.

Intermediate Jitterbug with Gottaswing!
Building on the presented in the beginner level, you'll expand your vocabulary with a variety of six-count, eight-count and Charleston patterns, ranging from material that's easy to use on the social dance floor to flashier moves that are sure to wow onlookers. You'll also work on developing your skill level to add to your enjoyment on the dance floor.

Adult Acting Technique (Level One)
BlackRock Artistic Director Kelly Chauncey leads this class as it involves a combination of theory and practice, equipping the students with the fundamental tools to create a character and develop the inner life of their character. Through exercises, discussion and scene work, they will study and actively experience the most well-known acting theories and techniques that aid the "contemporary actor". Techniques and theories from Stanislavski, Chekhov, Strasberg, Adler, Meisner and Hagen, in addition to basic scene analysis, will facilitate a thorough exploration into the actor's process. Students will dive into Monologue techniques while learning how to attach themselves to each layer of every character within them.

Jazz Dance for Youth
This class helps students build jazz techniques such as isolations, dynamic qualities, and traveling steps. Dancers will enjoy upbeat, pop music as they warm-up, build strength, improve flexibility, balance, and coordination. Students will be able to demonstrate rhythm, floor work, freestyle expression, and memorize choreography.

Acting and Theater for the Stage
This is a fun and collaborative class where students get to further their acting and performance skills. Students will strengthen their ability to develop characters, build stage presence and confidence, and perform using stories from around the world as inspiration. Acting techniques, script analysis and staging are just some of the theater skills taught in this engaging class. Students might be required to memorize lines and stage directions for a sharing on the final class which is open for family and friends.

This class is for students who have previously taken at least one year of ballet. Barre work will continue to strengthen body placement/alignment, increase technique, and introduce demi pointe work. Center practice exercises concentrate on correct placement and balance without use of the barre. Simple petite allegro and traveling enchainment will be executed. Attire: light blue leotard for students new to Level 2/3 and lavender leotard for returning level 2/3 students (no skirts), pink tights, pink ballet shoes. Hair in a bun or ponytail (short hair pulled away from the face with a headband or barrettes)

Finger Knitting for Mindfulness
Learn mindfulness through handwork; finger knitted chains, bracelets, and critters delight and can eventually turned to crochet, sewing, and knitting. The creation of knits is integral to learning, stress reduction, and focus, and students can calm their minds and bodies with the mastery of this simple art.
