The regional juried exhibition HANDCRAFTED: Fiber Art + Turned Wood is presented at BlackRock on a biennial basis to feature the work of artists and artisans from across the Mid-Atlantic Region. This year Fiber Art entries were juried by Caroline Kipp, Curator of Contemporary Art at the George Washington University Textile Museum in Washington, DC. Turned Wood entries were juried this year by Dr. Barbara Wolanin, Curator and Collector, who served for 30 years as Curator for the Architect of the Capitol in Washington, DC. The 21 selected works of Fiber Art feature both traditional and experimental materials which employ textile techniques that include quilting, weaving, embroidery, knitting, sewing, beading, and mixed media along with current innovations in this evolving medium.
