ABOUT THE EXHIBITION:
The most competitive juried watercolor exhibit in the region, the 2021 Mid-Atlantic Regional Watercolor Exhibition will be presented using a virtual format this year from June 12 through August 31. The annual competition, sponsored by the Baltimore Watercolor Society (BWS), is limited to original paintings created on paper using water-based media (including transparent watercolor, gouache, acrylic, and water-based ink) by artists from Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, DC. This year's juror is renowned watercolor artist Anne Abgott, AWS, NWS, who selected each of the 104 paintings on display in the online exhibit as well as designated awards, which include the BWS Gold Medal ($1,500 prize), BWS Silver Medal ($1,200 prize), and BWS Bronze Medal ($1,000 prize) as well as numerous other sponsored awards. A Virtual Reception and Awards Presentation was hosted online by the Baltimore Watercolor Society (BWS) on Sunday, June 27 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Visitors to the online exhibit, which is being presented on the BWS website, will have the opportunity to cast a virtual vote for their favorite painting to help select the winner of the “People’s Choice Award”.
