When surrounded by architecture in historic cities, details of doorways and unique shelters dominate her compositions. Valk begins by sketching from life, then works in her studio creating texture on the canvas with modeling paste, then underpainting with acrylic and applying, removing and building up again layers of charcoal, pencil, pastel, oil and other media. Admission to the Galleries at BlackRock is FREE.
