ABOUT THE PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN BLACKROCK CENTER FOR THE ARTS AND THE ART LEAGUE OF GERMANTOWN
The Art League of Germantown (ALOG) has a long-standing partnership with BlackRock Center for the Arts which began when the arts center first opened its doors in 2002. Each year ALOG presents two Show & Sale gallery exhibits at BlackRock. The group also hosts a series of monthly meetings at BlackRock featuring guest speakers and other programs. These events are free and open to the public. ALOG members actively volunteer at BlackRock, participate in community events, and have raised funds over the years to support the nonprofit arts center.
Twice each year ALOG presents exhibits at BlackRock, including a Fall Show & Sale as well as a Spring Show & Sale. These popular gallery exhibits feature original fine art and handmade fine crafts created by local artists and artisans who are ALOG members. The wide range of media represented includes painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, collage, mixed media, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, stained glass, fused glass, fiber art, and woodworking.
Throughout the year ALOG hosts their membership meetings at BlackRock where they present guest speakers, who are often successful artists and fine craft artisans, as well as special programs designed to appeal to the many aspects of an artist’s life. ALOG membership meetings are held monthly from September through May and are open to the public. While these meetings are traditionally held at BlackRock, they are currently being presented virtually during the pandemic.
