Katie Hecklinger | Director of Education
Katie Hecklinger leads BlackRock’s arts education programs including music and dance conservatory; seasonal classes in music, visual arts, dance, and theater; and five summer camps and the counselor in training leadership development program. Katie also manages an initiative that fosters BlackRock’s educational outreach into the local public school system.
She spent 22 years with Montgomery County Public School system, most recently as an assistant principal at Chevy Chase Elementary School. Her career also includes roles as classroom teacher, curriculum writer, staff development teacher, and consulting teacher. Katie earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from University of Maryland College Park, a Master of Science degree in Educational Technology Leadership from George Washington University, and a Certification in Administration and Supervision from Johns Hopkins University. She was a singer with the Master Chorale of Washington for nine years.
