Anne Burton is the Gallery Director at BlackRock Center for the Arts where she is responsible for the curation, administration, design, installation, and programming of 12 to 18 changing annual exhibitions presented in two gallery spaces. Prior to arriving at BlackRock in 2014, she served as Exhibitions Coordinator at VisArts, where she assisted with the coordination and installation of 25 annual exhibits presented in three galleries, designed signage and printed materials, planned and hosted public events, and developed internship and docent programs.

Anne began her career as a graphic designer in the Office of Design and Exhibit Planning at The Smithsonian’s National Zoological Park, then went on to focus on designing publications for nonprofits, including nine years working in-house for Special Olympics. For more than 10 years she taught graphic design and studio art courses as an adjunct faculty member at the Corcoran College of Art + Design, American University, Montgomery College and Trinity College. Anne completed the graduate program in Graphic Design at the Basel School of Design in Basel, Switzerland and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual Communications from Trinity College in Washington, DC. She holds memberships in ArtTable, the American Alliance of Museums, and Montgomery Women.
