The first exhibit in the series showcases works by Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) students who attend elementary, middle and high schools located in Germantown, MD. The second exhibit in the series highlights the work of eighth grade students from the Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences located in Barnesville, MD. Both exhibits include selections which represent only a small sampling of the art projects created each day by talented students in our community supported by their dedicated art teachers. Youth Art Month is an annual celebration emphasizing the value of art education, encouraging support for quality school art programs, and recognizing the valuable skills developed through the visual arts curriculum that are not possible in other subjects. Sponsored by the National Art Education Association, the theme for Youth Art Month this year is “Building Community Through Art.”
