A contemporary dance company based in a village outside of Jerusalem, Vertigo Dance Company was founded in 1992 by choreographers Noa Wertheim and Adi Sha’al. A messenger of Israeli Art at its best – both at home and abroad – Vertigo’s work brings people closer together and touches them through the language of the body. With each performance Vertigo takes the viewer on a new and unexpected, exciting, challenging journey into unfamiliar territories. In this special in-studio performance, choreographer Noa Wertheim shares insights about modern dance in Israel, while the company performs excerpts of recent repertory work, including Mana and Vertigo20.
Vertigo has performed internationally at prestigious dance venues such as White Bird, Jacob’s Pilllow Dance Festival, and Festival de Marseille. Wertheim has been awarded the Landau Performing Arts Prize (2003) and the Ministry of Culture Dance Award (2009).
“The Vertigo Dance Company challenged one’s powers of perception with high-voltage dancing and eye-catching designs.” —The New York Times
