Beloved the world over, the Peruvian-based puppeteers Teatro Hugo + Ines are renowned for transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. Combining mime, dance, and puppetry, Hugo + Ines create a host of characters composed of knees, feet, hands, elbows, and a small cache of props. In Short Stories, Hugo + Ines introduce the audience to a memorable cast who, in their brief scenes, play out the poetic moments of daily life. Founded in 1986, the duo combines mime, dance, and puppetry in creative pieces that play out the poetic moments of daily life.
Hugo e Ines have performed throughout the world in venues such as the Henson International Festival of Puppet Theater, The Kennedy Center, International Festival for Children (Singapore) and Festival of Wonder (Denmark) and also appeared regularly on the PBS series Between the Lions.
“Unfailingly whimsical theater-of-marvels…Hugo and Ines are both superbly in tune with a sense of magical transformation that makes their partnership one of the wonders of the age.” —Los Angeles Times
