Artist Reception | Sunday, Jun 26, 2016 | 2:00 PM | $Free
Please join us for a reception to meet local artists Pat Goslee, Lynn Putney and Veronica Szalus and learn more about how experience, energy and emotion link the studio practices of these three artists. Echoes of both the spiritual and the scientific reverberate through the work of Pat Goslee, Lynn Putney and Veronica Szalus as each artist contemplates connectivity, vulnerability, growth and transformation, the fabric of a collective experience. Engaging chaos and entropy, Pat Goslee creates enigmatic canvases filled with layered abstracted forms; evocative images that seem to combine known patterns (neural networks, root systems, circuitry) with the mysteries of soul-searching. Employing a process-driven approach, Lynn Putney creates heavily layered and scraped paintings which invite us to share an inner world by turns playful and dark, but ultimately imbued with undeniable optimism. Putney’s visual language is strange but also strangely familiar in compositions where psychology and symbolism reign. Emphasizing the contradictory, but effective, partnership of strength and fragility that underlies human nature and nature itself, Veronica Szalus creates site-specific installations that simultaneously reference the personal (the body) and the global (the earth.) The exhibition “e(3): Pat Goslee, Lynn Putney, and Veronica Szalus” will be on view in the Terrace Gallery from June 9 through July 16, 2016.
