The next installment of BlackRock’s multi-year commitment to contemporary circus will take you Beyond the Tent for an insider look at this art form in an intimate, informal setting. This is a rare opportunity to learn more about contemporary circus from two experienced international artists who are at the top of their field.
For circus artists and physical performers seeking to exercise, practice and further develop circus performance skills in Slack-Wire, Pair Acrobatics, Handstand, Balancing, and Juggling. This is an incredible opportunity to work with artists from a premier European contemporary circus company and exploring their mission and vision for circus arts: Commitment, Quality Madness, and Collective Individualism.
Alex Weibel, assisted by Aino Inhainen, will be leading workshops in their fine-tuned specialties to teaching professionals and circus artists in the DC-Baltimore area. They are instructors and performers affiliated with Cirkus Cirkör, the premiere contemporary circus in Sweden. Cirkus Cirkör’s mission and vision are to change the world through Contemporary Circus. They were the first modern circus group in Scandinavia to offer extensive education courses in circus arts, as well as using circus as a teaching tool for young students, elderly adults and students on the autism spectrum. These events are presented in partnership with the Embassy of Sweden, with support from the Swedish Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
