Please join us for a pre-Earth Day Celebration and Reception to meet Maryland artist Anna Fine Foer who creates map collages that are imaginary landscapes layered with symbols, metaphors and multiple narratives which are focused on the interplay among ecological, technological and scientific themes. Create hands-on activities using collage, enjoy a gallery talk by the artist, and learn more about Foer’s process. Combining imagery, Anna Fine Foer creates map collages focused on the interplay among ecological, technological and scientific themes. In her solo exhibition, “Physiography: A Sense of Place,” she incorporates maps from a wide variety of sources in imaginary landscapes layered with symbols, metaphors and multiple narratives. Exploring the relationship of the natural world and man-made world and how we navigate those worlds, Foer often includes metaphysical, religious, and political themes in her exploration of topography, geology, landscape and climate. Foer, who earned her BFA at University of the Arts, Philadelphia, PA, has worked in textile conservation in Haifa and Tel-Aviv, Israel and for the Textile Museum in Washington, DC. Foer’s solo exhibition “Physiography: A Sense of Place” will be on view in the Terrace Gallery from April 1 through May 1, 2016.
