All ages are welcome. Supplies for hands-on activities are first-come, first-served. RSVP is recommended.
The “Community Art Day: From the Countryside” event is held in conjunction with the exhibition “Farm to Gallery: The Countryside Artisans” which will be on view from Saturday, September 16 through Saturday, October 28, 2017 in the Kay Gallery at BlackRock Center for the Arts. Celebrating the agricultural heritage and rural landscape of our region, the exhibit highlights the work of the Countryside Artisans of Maryland, a select group of visual artists, fine craft artisans, and makers whose studios, workshops, and farms are located in or near Montgomery County’s Agricultural Reserve. The exhibit includes works of fiber art, ceramics, hand blown glass, metalwork, sculpture, drawings, paintings, and photography by more than 25 members of the Countryside Artisans.
The Countryside Artisans of Maryland is a collective of accomplished visual artists, fine craft artisans, and makers who offer seasonal self-guided tours on scheduled weekends when participating members open their studios, workshops, and farms to the public. The Countryside Artisans Fall Tour will take place during the “Farm to Gallery” exhibition on October 13, 14, and 15, 2017. Admission is free.
