ARTS EDUCATION FOR ALL!

Through virtual, private lessons, and outreach opportunities, BlackRock offers a variety of creative and inspiring programs across all artistic disciplines.

Like everything else, education at BlackRock has changed. But throughout all the transitions one thing has remained constant--the need and value of personal expression, social and emotional learning, and critical thinking offered through the arts.

Along with a cohort of award-winning, internationally-renowned teachers, BlackRock has made social and emotional learning a bedrock in our programming.

If you are interested in teaching at BlackRock, please reach out to our Education Manager at educationdept@blackrockcenter.org or fill out the following form: Teaching Artist/Arts Teacher Interest Form

Art Literacy

BLACKROCK IN A BOX

ABOUT

BlackRock in a Box is an art education and literacy program for students in grades in Kindergarten through eighth grade. Each class blends social emotional wellbeing concepts and topics intertwined with arts instruction, and related poetry and prose.

In addition to fostering a safe, nurturing, vocabulary rich learning environment, topics, and themes for each course focus on personal well-being, students also receive a box of art supplies that they get to keep.

Classes are taught virtually by BlackRock Teaching Artists, experts in their discipline, for lessons that develop art skills in the visual arts, drama, puppeteering, and mindfulness.

Students make strong connections socially as well as having new opportunities to express themselves through interpretation of a theme.

Finding Fellowship Church.png

ABOUT

The Quince Orchard Project (TQOP) in partnership with BlackRock Center for the Arts (BlackRock) and Docs In Progress is launching a new digital storytelling program, The Finding Fellowship Series. This two-month program centers around filmmaker Jason Green’s 60-minute documentary, Finding Fellowship. The film tells the story of how the death of Dr. King inspired three fledging Methodists churches– two white and one black– to merge into one. The documentary highlights our need as a community and a culture to preserve stories, memories, and lessons of the past in order to shape our future.

PROGAMMING

The Finding Fellowship Series, will run February 5 through April 11, 2021 and include the below opportunities for engagement:

  • Interviews with documentary participants

  • Week-long viewing for Finding Fellowship
