Classes

Think of BlackRock as an artist’s palate brimming with colors, and of the colors as different facets of the arts.   There are visual arts to be sure—painting, cartooning, paper-marbling, ceramics and more— and there are also performing arts: dance, music and theater.

BlackRock offers classes for people of all ages, from parent/child creative play and music for toddlers to introduction to piano, guitar and violin for elementary aged students, to “singing for musical theater” for teens, to ballroom dancing for adults. Our Young Artist level classes provide an exciting opportunity for talented young people to refine their skills and develop their love of a chosen discipline.

BlackRock can be your creative outlet, offering a nurturing and welcoming environment, whether you are a novice or expert. Grab a brush, choose a color on the palate, and paint your artistic path at BlackRock.

Saying about
BlackRock Classes...

"My husband and I are so grateful to Black Rock for providing such a great education in art and music for our children.  Our children have been nourished so well at the Center.  We have always been treated with respect and professionalism at Black Rock.  We are the proud parents of Black Rock Center!"

- Maryam Garzan, North Potomac

"I needed a camp that would offer me flexibility with quality programming that would my kids would enjoy, but not break the bank.  I am thrilled to say that Black Rock Center for the Arts answered ALL our needs.  The building is well designed to provide the children with their own space while at the same time being an intimate setting.  It is wonderful to have Black Rock in Montgomery County, not just for what it offers but also for the very reasonable cost of these programs.  One of the best features of Black Rock is their summer camp program. Nowhere have I seen quality programming, at a quality price, with quality people running the programs."

- Michelle and Eric Stoll, Potomac

"The facility is lovely and like new which really lends to the learning atmosphere. It's important that the floors are good for dancers so my daughter won't injure her knees.  I love Blackrock for the rental potential too.  My son's orchestra rented the Main Theater to perform there.  I loved the intimate feel to the theater and being able to sit so close to the stage and see and hear everything."
