What is your current occupation at BlackRock? I currently teach Hip Hop Kidz, Hip Hop Youth, Adult Hip Hop, and a new Heels Class at BlackRock.
How many years have you taught at BlackRock so far? How many hours do you teach per week? I’ve been here for just about a year and I’ll be teaching 4 hours per week this fall.
Which class has been your favorite to teach and why? I really enjoy the Hip Hop Kidz class because the younger children are so eager and energetic. No matter what kind of day I’ve had they always bring a huge smile to my face.
What have been your highlights at BlackRock? My highlights from BlackRock have been when the kids who return remember what we learned the session before. It’s reassuring to know that you made an impact.
What does teaching at BlackRock mean to you? Teaching at Black Rock is such an intimate and family friendly experience. All of the staff is supportive and the students come ready to learn and just have a great time. I especially love it when my adult hip hop class takes risks and just lets loose. Dance is ultimately supposed to be fun and we do just that with the support of everyone at Black Rock.
Monique’s classes are still available for sign up and many of her classes can be taken on a drop-in basis. Please visit the Dance Education page for more details.
