¡Viva BlackRock! 2017 Annual Gala

 

This year, ¡Viva BlackRock! 2017 Annual Gala was held Friday, May 5th.  This formal event helps support the nonprofit, BlackRock Center for the Arts and spread its mission of sharing of the arts throughout the Upper Montgomery County community and beyond.

This year’s gala featured a latin flair with music by Spanish Guitar Duo, Ramin y Manuel, and catering by Geppetto complete with the night’s signature Mojito drinks overflowing at the bar. The black-tie affair began included an awards ceremony and fund-a-need paddle raise.

A huge BlackRock thank you goes out to all of our auction donors for allowing us to have countless auction items for silent and live bidding throughout the night. Proceeds from this year’s gala will benefit BlackRock’s vital services to include, but not limited to, arts education scholarships, free art gallery exhibitions and our diverse live performances.  Take a look at the post-event press release and photos below:

BlackRock Center for the Arts Raises over $128,000 at Annual Gala

Germantown nonprofit announces 15th Anniversary and Capital Campaign during annual ¡Viva BlackRock! 2017 Gala and Awards Dinner.

(Germantown, MD) – On Friday, May 5th, 2017 BlackRock Center for the Arts held its annual fundraising event, ¡Viva BlackRock! 2017 Gala.  Over 150 state dignitaries, the County Executive and County Councilmembers, corporate leaders and other art supporters were in attendance for the Cinco de Mayo-themed affair. The event featured live dinner auction, facilitated by Montgomery County Councilmember, Craig Rice, and grossed over $128,000 through sponsorships, ticket sales, fund-a-need paddle raise and the sale of 90 items in both live and silent auction events. The successful annual event also kicked off the upcoming 15th anniversary of the organization’s inception and a conjoining Capital Campaign to revitalize its equipment and facilities.

Montgomery County’s First Lady and Honorary Gala Chair, Catherine Leggett, was also on hand to give remarks on BlackRock’s constant contribution to the community throughout the years through arts education classes, live performances and gallery exhibits. During the awards ceremony, Marilyn Balcombe, President & CEO of the Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce, received the Rocky Award for exceptional dedication to BlackRock’s mission of providing high-quality arts and culture experiences to the community.  Clarksburg Premium Outlets took home the Outstanding Corporate Leader Award for their partnership with BlackRock as the Lead Season Sponsor.

¡Viva BlackRock! Gala Committee was co-chaired by Jennifer Russel of Rodgers Consulting and Sharon Bauer of the Montgomery Countryside Alliance.
